PMC I/O Module (PIM) for
the MerlinPXC and MerlinMTX/DP
The MerlinPXC-PIM (PMC I/O Module) is used with both the MerlinPXC and the MerlinMTX/DP graphics boards.
It is used with a compatible Rear Transition Module (RTM) for VME, CompactPCI, or OpenVPX.
Pn4 (PMC) and Pn6 (XMC) rear-panel I/O connector access are both supported. Pn6 sgnal connections follow the "XIM" enhancement as suggested by Extreme Engineering. All signals are clamped by high-speed ESD TVS protection diodes.
When used with the MerlinPXC, signals provided on its XMC Pn6 and/or PMC Pn4 rear I/O connectors can be accessed on the PIM as follows:
* to use VGA, sacrifice DP Ch C&F
An alternate I/O breakout is available via a VME P2 style 96-pin DIN 41612 connector.
VGA Adapter Boardlet
There isn't room in the PIM panel area for a real VGA connector. A miniDisplayPort connector is "repurposed" to bring out the VGA signals.
A small PCB "boardlet" with a matching miniDP connector and a real VGA connector is provided as part of the MerlinPXC PIM "package" so that a standard VGA cable may be attached.
MIPI CSI-2 Adapter Boardlet
There is no such thing as a standard MIPI CSI-2 connector. For the MerlinPXC front panel MIPI port, a miniDisplayPort connector is "repurposed" to bring out the MIPI signals to the MerlinPXC front panel.
A small PCB "boardlet" with a matching miniDP connector and an FPC connector wired for the Avnet WandCam is provided as part of the MerlinPXC PIM "package".
It would be straightforward for you to build your own adapter if the WandCam is not the desired camera. See the Merlin User Manual for more information.
